Quick update: tried it on the TV, didn't work on that either. Again, it was just working fine 2 months ago :( I'm hoping the (used) s-video cable I bought is the problem because good camcorders are hard to find.

Turns out I needed an s-video cable, it works! Now I need to start finding out how I can back these up while they still work.
