Extremely "wrong" sound from my new JBL LSR305 Speakers

The cable he listed was stereo 3.5mm to stereo 1/4", but what he needed was stereo 3.5mm to mono left/right 1/4". Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Hosa-CMP-153-Stereo-Breakout-Cable/dp/B000068O3C (First example I found so I'm not advocating this particular item) Keep in mind that...

    Connecting speakers to tv problem?

On the TV audio ARC setting, instead of auto detect go through the list and see if one of the formats will work. Auto didn't work for my AVR but forcing it did.

LFE Port to L/R RCA plugs

Actually, in this case you need to connect via a y adapter which is fine to use for subs, especially in this case. In more modern AVR's where output is a single out, the AVR combines the signal (assuming speakers set to small) of the L/R before the output which is basically what you're doing...

    Speaker reading infinite ohms.

Sorry, was late at night and misread the post thinking that it was infinite across the posts. In this case AA is correct and you need to contact Monitor audio on replacement.

Can i take a 12 in subwoofer and cut a new hole in a 10 subwoofer box and it still work and sound right

Actually, having the box small won't cause any more overheating than a larger one. As for actually doing it, it'll sound fine...insomuch as it won't sound odd. However, it is extremely doubtful that you'll be making full use of any potential bass extension/total output that the 12 might have...

    Speaker reading infinite ohms.

I'm not too versed on repair, but I can start you off. First, open it up and take a look around. With any luck it could be something as simply as a wire between the posts and the crossover got damaged or disconnected. After that, take a look at the crossover itself and see if one or more...

Dont know what amplifier to get for svs ultra bookshelf speakers

@kane: he's using a DAC with a sub...guessing he's doing bass management at that point which means you can't use the volume control on a integrated amp as it won't control the sub. @OP: What DAC are you using?

Best Sub €200 Desktop Speakers? + Extra questions

Just to give you another option to think about: 300 Euros gets you into the JBL LSR305 range which are pretty good powered monitors for the price you pay. If you're in a more metropolitan area, you may be able to demo these at various shops...you'd be looking for one that sells electric...

Mixing Manufacturers Speakers for 5.1 Surround Sound Home Theater

Oh I should also mention that you should take a look over at AVSForum at the Audyssey FAQ/101 thread, though the Yamaha uses their own room correction (YPAO), a lot of what's there will still be relevant...

Mixing Manufacturers Speakers for 5.1 Surround Sound Home Theater

Hey, Sounds good. Just a reminder, as with anything on CL, make sure you can hear it first. You should hear solid bass without distortion up to a loud level. But if it checks out, that's a pretty good deal at $215. And just to let you know, Emotiva gives it a three year warranty, if they...

Some help recommending speakers for home theater set up

I'd seriously take a look at the Sony Core series speakers, specifically the bookshelves. The price per pair is $75, the center is also $75. They'd easily be better than the Micca's and are better overall than the Pioneers. As far as subs go, my suggestion would be to stretch the budget as...

    2.1 Upgrade Suggestions

Yes, the SVS would be a significant upgrade. Just to give you more options in that price range you can look at the HSU VTF2-MK5, the Rythmik LV12R, and the Emotiva BasX S12. Although it's not in the same league as the above (especially the HSU and Rythmik), the Emotiva BasX S10 would be a good...

Mixing Manufacturers Speakers for 5.1 Surround Sound Home Theater

Hey, Yes, you can lay it horizontal. As for mounting, it doesn't have any mounting posts or key holes, but there are wall mounts that are more or less shelves, plus you may be able to drive screws into the cabinet (you can email them if you have something specific in mind). Since they are...

Solved! Speaker Setup Recommendation for 200$?

Pair of JBL LSR305's. Better than anything listed so far. For $200-250 about the best you can do (without buying used) would be active monitors for a 2.0 setup.

Mixing Manufacturers Speakers for 5.1 Surround Sound Home Theater

For just a center, I still say you should get yourself one HVL-1 for $120, it's in the same price bracket as what you listed but it's better than all of them by a decent amount, especially when it comes to center duty. The low budget Polks are not worth the money even with them being as cheap...
