I had to "refresh" my windows to an earlier state but when I redownloaded chrome it synced me up to my bookmarks from 5-6 years ago instead of today/yesterday. I did find the correct bookmarks file in windows.old, it did not have a suffix. I've compared it to a exported chrome bookmarks file...
