I think it's normal. When unplugged, a laptop throttles itself to save power. Once you plug the charger in, the hardware is allowed to run at full speed, resulting in more heating.

I managed to fix it, for some reason secure boot was causing it. Disabling it fixed it for me.

Did you find a solution? I'm having the same problem. The only difference was it was working before.

Try using Malwarebytes, it`s free and it gets rid of viruses like those, but you need to pay to get real time protection.

Does the UPS heat up without the inverter?

Yes, no damage should occur if you plug it into the line in jack. To record, just open the voice recorder and let it record.

Windows does not let you change the file extension on known file types, you are just renaming the file to X.cfg.txt. Do this: http://www.programmerfish.com/how-to-change-file-extension-in-windows-7/ and you then will be able to change the file extension.
