first use an sd card reader/usb sd card reader to plug the sd card into your pc, then backup everything. delete the partition and format, then copy the files back to the card. this will rule out problems with the sd card before you do a factory reset.

Did you not create a nandroid after rooting? This is something you must always do. From here you'll have to get the original firmware from sammobile.com and flash with odin. See the xda forums specific to your phone for essential reading.

I dont mean windows firewall or a hardware device. You need a 3rd party firewall like avg or comodo if you dont already have one and need to configure it in there.

You can use your router or your firewall to achieve this. Steps depend on the make of your router/firewall.
