I realize that they are both virtual. I guess I worded it poorly. just wondering whether there would be a difference between a stereo headset with external software or having a 7.1 headset with the software built into the headset itself.
For example:
I purchase The Razer Kraken Pro and use them with the Razer surround Pro software
OR
I purchase The Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma
Am I correct in assuming that the 7.1 from The Chroma headset would be better?
Before I returned my HyperX Cloud 2's they were extremely loud as well. I had to have the windows volume sliders almost all the way down to not blow my ears off. I sent them back for an unrelated issue though.

So after going through the technical support via email they determined I need a replacement USB dongle. So hopefully the new one resolves my issues. I'll update once I have the new one.
