I realize that they are both virtual. I guess I worded it poorly. just wondering whether there would be a difference between a stereo headset with external software or having a 7.1 headset with the software built into the headset itself.

For example: I purchase The Razer Kraken Pro and use them with the Razer surround Pro software OR I purchase The Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma Am I correct in assuming that the 7.1 from The Chroma headset would be better?

Before I returned my HyperX Cloud 2's they were extremely loud as well. I had to have the windows volume sliders almost all the way down to not blow my ears off. I sent them back for an unrelated issue though.

Replacement USB dongle did not fix the issue....

I'm still waiting for my new USB dongle to get here. I RMA'ed the first one Friday and as far as I can tell the new one still hasn't shipped to me yet. In the meantime I did another test to make sure the headset itself was working correctly. I already knew they were fine when plugged into a...

So after going through the technical support via email they determined I need a replacement USB dongle. So hopefully the new one resolves my issues. I'll update once I have the new one.

I've started a Technical support ticket with kingston's website explaining what the issues are and what i've done to try and fix it so far. Waiting for an email response. We'll see what they say.
