I'm very happy with my G. It's often faster than the S4 Mini because it doesn't have the TouchWiz interface, which, well, can slow the phone down quite a bit. It's also important to note the Galaxy S4 Mini is in the £200-segment, the Moto G in the £150.

It's probably the operating system that got slow. You can try some cleaners like CCleaner, but i found that reinstalling Windows gave a real speed improvement.
