I hate jumping to conclusions, but it may be a hard-drive failure. Have you done any software or driver changes lately? That could also cause the problem. Which version of Windows?

Yes, it should be decent for gaming. I don't know if it's worth $1,500.00 though.

Hmmm...how old is your laptop? It could be some driver issue with Windows 10 and older hardware.

The camera for video should be good for your purpose, provided you have lighting. If you're happy with the audio then that's all you will need.

For sound recording you would want a quality microphone. The Sony HDR unfortunately doesn't fit the bill. It will do good for recording the video portion, but you'd either want a studio mic or something consumer grade like a "Blue Yeti" for audio. Watch some youtube reviews to see what others...

Yeah, they're good laptops with excellent workmanship. You may want to consider waiting for the next model to be released, as it will have better performance/price ratio. Keep in mind though, MacBooks have notoriously low specifications for the price, so you would be better buying the higher end...

Does the Art Tube have native USB support? XLR to USB cable to me seems like the reason why the computer isn't picking up the Preamp.
