Look at Gateway, or look at NCIX.com (us site) or Neweggs.com on deals with free shipping. If it doesn't have free shipping, at that price it's not worth it to get it online: just get it at an electronic store.

I'm a fan of Sennheiser products, but I think bass-wise they might be a tiny bit weaker than other higher ends brands of headphones... Can't speak for Audio-Technica, though!

Jesus... 250$?! ... well, you could always look at Gateway laptops, I think they start at around 350ish... 250$ is kind of tight for something not second hand. By the way, I'm fully assuming this is strictly for school work, as in Word, email, etc... You won't be gaming on this, nor using any...
