Yeah the mx100 was my choice too and $220 for 512gb is pretty good. I dont really like windows 8 and I already have a copy of windows 7 pro 64-bit so I'll use that. Any other suggestions?
I am looking for a laptop to get me through college atleast.
Things I want:
-1920x1080 display
-i7 processor 2 ghz+
-ssd for os and storage
-number pad
Things I dont care about:

Not sure what its going to cost for what I want so I will just say the cheaper the better!
As the title says I am new to laptops but I know hardware and such but not which laptop brands are good, etc. This laptop is going to be for college (programming mostly) and not at all for gaming. Now I know I don't need a very powerful laptop for programming but I want it to be fast none the...

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8gb 1600mhz
PSU: Corsair RM650
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Blue 500gb
SSD: Kingston HyperX 3k 120gb

Okay so I have heard of htpc's and media servers but I don't really know what they are except for some research I have done. I have 5 TV's in my house and I would like to be able to record and watch live (HD) tv without paying for cable and having the stupid set-top box is this possible? I think...
