Quick update: I've decided to get the HP Omen 15 because I've found a really good price and it's the cheapest. It has the same specs as the g7.

Check if ASW (Asynchronous TimeWarp) is enabled for your rift. You don't need it enabled because your GPU can definitely run VR.

The 1050ti is the lowest graphics card that is supported by the Rift, only with ASW enabled (basically upscaling). The 1060 can run the rift often without ASW. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the 1050 is not vr ready.
