    Onboard soundcard good enough?

Yeah it does but you should consider getting a quality pair of headphones instead of a headset from a gaming brand. If you desperately need mic just attach this to your headphones. http://www.modmic.com/products/modmic-4-0

Should I buy a new Headset?

Yes, sounds like the mic isn't getting input from the mic itself. If you have some quality headphones laying around you should get this: http://www.modmic.com/products/modmic-4-0

My headset mic works but I cant hear any audio??

Try plugging the audio and mic jack directly into the back of the PC. Also check if the headset is set as the default device by right clicking on the speaker on the bottom right and clicking playback devices.

Right click on the speaker icon and click on Playback devices. Left click...

    PC Audio Setup

I do not know of this "NwAVGuy" but I can help you. It seems like you've done your research so I'll get right into it. Both the DT990 and Objective2 ODAC are amazing audio products. If you can afford them, those might be the last headphones you buy. The DT990's are awesome for music playback...

    Astro A40 Help??

You can do surround sound with any set of headphones so you shouldn't buy headphones based on that. They do come with a 3.5 mm cable so it should work with your iPhone. The mixamp is up to you. All it really does is it powers the headphones and colors the audio which will make a significant...

    Astro Gaming Headphones

My recollection is they have quality products and I would recommended but no matter how good they are, they are still a gaming brand. First lesson in audio, don't buy audio products from a gaming brand. You should at least check out the more well established audio companies such as Sennheiser...
