    And your point being? if he's posting tjunction temps, he hasnt tripped the thermal shutdown. If he's posting tCase, he most probably IS tripping thermal shutdown. All depends on the software he's using to report temps..

    Actually he might be right... tjunction for that CPU is 105c It all depends on what temps he's reading tcase or tjunction. Also, ASUS might of modified the BIOS to shutdown at a lower value then the max intel specifies for the CPU http://ark.intel.com/products/64899/

    a 2670qm should be faster then a 8400 IF (big IF) the software you are using to encode is multithreaded. If the application single threade, that might be why it is slower. The rest of the components do not really have an impact on video recoding... its purely CPU... unless the software on...

    Pure math... 3GB per 5 min = 10 MB/s... Any hard disk should be able to maintain that if no other process (besides the OS) are running. As for CPU/etc... all depends on what the software is doing/requires. If it's only "receiving" the file on writing on disk, that should not be very intensive.

    The problem is most probably due to the fact that your BIOS is set to use the HD in AHCI mode. XP doesnt support it without using the F6 option when installing and to have the correct drivers on floppy. Option A: Change the BIOS setting Option B: make the floppy disk with the correct drivers...
