When the 1080s came out, I stuck one in my old gaming rig, moved it to the living room and made it the dedicated Vive Computer. I then built a new gaming computer to keep in my man cave.

Don't know what is the best, but I personally have the Vive and I like it quite a bit. We have had 5-6 "VR parties" and everybody really has a blast. Sometimes I wish there was a tad bit more content, but hey, early adopters and all.

Honestly if you can afford a Vive, I would do it. Having people over and watching them experience it for the first time is really really fun. I play a lot of games on PC and I dont think I ever had an ear to ear grin like I did with the first week of the Vive. It so immersive your body reacts...

I have a Vive and there seems to be a ton of content, although alot of it is short. Now that I have it, I think of it as less of a gaming device, and more of an experience device. I don't know that there will ever be games on it like you would see on your PC, but I could be wrong. Not sure...

Agree with the above, I would look at the pascal cards over your 980ti. Also, you would have a pretty powerful machine, able to push 1080 games into the 100+ fps range, but you would be bottlenecked to 60 by your monitor. If this is exclusively a VR machine, its probably not a big deal, but if...
