I'd add that the TV manual notes that when it is receiving HDMI input signals, no audio is sent out from the optical out on the TV.

I have an old Lexicon DC-2 processor. I have a Pioneer Elite 1150 TV. And I have a Roku that only has an HDMI output. I tried connecting the TV's optical out to the Lexicon. The problem, however, is that this is a different input than the HDMI inputs. So I get no sound or streaming content...
