Is there any particular laptop that you would recommend? Specifically?

What would be the best LAPTOP (not PC) for $600 (Australian) that could be used for school work, light gaming and watching/downloading movies? I would prefer a 14" screen and at least 500gb HDD. I need a HDMI port and a disc drive. Please don't say that there is nothing good for this price, if...
