I'm confused by all this - I have a Onyko receiver and Samsung TV (with external HDMI box) - on HDMI 4 on the box it shows ARC - so I plugged the cable from HDMI 4 on the TV into an HDMI in port on the receiver. I believe I've set everything to the proper things - Sound on TV set to Audio...
