I believe either MSI GP or GE series is good enough for your school things Plus if you want to play games.

I would suggest GS70 because I think Gigabyte is not really providing a lot of gaming features such as steelseries keyboard and so one that GS70 does.

I found a page showing the CPU performance. $130 to gain extra 10%~20% performance seems to be a good deal.
