Settings video/HDMI HDMI standby through set to on. Just be sure to set your HDMI input on the receiver to DirecTv and it should be good from that point on, even in stanbdy mode.

I found the issue. Pass through had to be set to ON, not AUTO. Things work fine now

CEC was already off on the receiver. DTV had it on and I turned it off. Didn't make a difference. Thanks for the suggestion though!

I have a DirecTv genie proving input via hdmi to the AV Recvr. With the AV on, sound and video flows thru to the tv. If I turn the AV off, the pass through works and I still get DTV on the tv for as long as I have DTV on and watching. If I now turn off DTV and turn it back on 10 minutes...
