The hdmi cable is about a year old, but the TV cant see it so I'm guessing it's the cable

I've just bought a Samsung hw j 750 sound bar to go with my Samsung ue55ju6500 TV and I can't connect them. The sound bar was a floor model.... I've tried connection through arc, Bluetooth and auxiliary, nothing seems to work. I've tried pressing the play button on the remote to reset it...
