If I read it correctly, their fix involved losing the 5.1 in favour of 'simulated' 5.1 through stereo, which is the situation I currently have. To be honest though, I've been tweaking it a bit and I'm actually starting to think I was being overly fussy. Pretend 5.1 sounds pretty good anyway...

As I understand it, it's basically electrical interference around the audio channels/transmitters. I resolved similar on my motherboard by buying a sound card.

A fan in the rear, to make sure the hot air it puts out is moved away. A fan to force air into it will just conflict with the PS3's own fan.

As stated, uRexsoft's Video Converter is not free, unless there's some kind of activation code available. Poor research if not.
