Self-Driving Car Accidents Will Make Us All Safer

The headline is almost misleading. It almost makes you think the self-driving car "caused" some accidents but... "None of the accidents were the fault of the autonomous cars..." "...the self-driving car hasn't caused a single accident." In every case the self-driving car was on the receiving...

How to Hack Into a City's Power Grid

Foiled by the floppy disk. LOL Old-school FTW. The only thing more obscure now would be a ZIP disk. Unless they're talking about 5.25" floppy disks in which case color me impressed.

That's right, all that paper you have lying around, you can now use to make 3D stuff: http://www.techhive.com/article/2049109/this-3d-printer-uses-paper-regular-old-paper-instead-of-filament-or-resin.html And no, if you watch the video you'll know...

Why the Latest NSA Leak Is the Scariest of All

There are brilliant mathematicians and algorithmically-minded people all over the world. If full AES-128/192/256 could be feasibly cracked, we'd know about it. Building backdoors into a system isn't the same as cracking the underlying encryption of said system. It's like purposefully making the...

    Why You Might Want a $200 PS3

First gen PS3 had more storage and could do way more, like play all PS2/PSX titles and had linux support. Not anymore! Sad sad sad. For the same $200 you could get a first gen PS3 on eBay and actually get your money's worth in hardware. The magic model number you're looking for is "CECHA01"...

BitTorrent Proxies, VPNs Increased After 'Six Strikes' Launch

freggoOK, it is early in the morning and I did not have coffee yet; but still, I do not understand how piracy of basically 'free' software hurts those providing the free software ? Try reading the link? Perhaps it really is too early in the morning. "Why Piracy Hurts Open Source" by John Knight...

BitTorrent Proxies, VPNs Increased After 'Six Strikes' Launch

VPNs have many uses outside of piracy, but while we're on the topic of piracy, many people might not realize it but piracy hurts open-source far more than it does corporations: http://goo.gl/0hn5S

BitTorrent Proxies, VPNs Increased After 'Six Strikes' Launch

If you look at TorrentFreak's graph, it actually shows that demand already peaked and is heading sharply back downwards. I don't doubt that demand will gradually increase over the long-term, but this dramatic flux in demand is more indicative of a paranoia-induced frenzy.
