    What about using an external drive to migrate the data from the IDE drives and then reformat and reload XP? The problem is the boot sector is corrupted.

    My Dell Dimension 4400 desktop (circa 2002) is DOA and I want to move the 2 hard drives to a compatible system. I believe they are IDE but I'm not sure. Any expert advice is greatly appreciated.
