Thanks man, but I am already using Gamebooster, and it doen't seem to have any effect on my FPS drops.

Just defragged. Looked like it worked at first (certainly dropped my temps) but the problem persists. Already checked for malware and cleansed my registry. Don't have a restore point, though. As I said, the laptop is pretty new.

It doesn't make any significant difference. All my modes perform more or less the same. The only difference I get is laptop plugged in vs. laptop not plugged in. I know it's really strange, and that's because I decided to ask here. I've been wandering many forumns looking for an answer, but no...
