I done a troubleshooting from the control panel, and it said that NO dvd playback device was detected!! and I looked at device manager and it says its installed, and there is no exclamation mark there, also I did another trouble shooting and it said windows update was set to not install...

I had to order a recovery disc from toshiba. Now it boots up !! Thanks for all the responses to my problem.

yes, when the screen goes black it starts off with a flashing - up in the top left corner. it flashes a couple times then the screen goes blank , then it will start itself over again and repeats the same process !!

I have tried the power button, it immediately goes to innovations screen as soon as I power on, so I wait til it goes to blank screen then I held down power til it shut of, powered on again , and waited til black screen held power down till it shut off, done this several times !! automatic...

toshiba c855-s5206 won't boot past toshiba leading inovations screen, goes from toshiba screen, to black screen, then back to toshiba screen . I have replaced the round battery, and won't boot from cd either. please help or do i need a new hard drive?
