Should I wait for the new Dell XPS 15?

I don't have any specs for the new models. Specs usually change with processor releases. For example, DDR4 will be supported. I would expect an i5 model with a 1TB 7200RPM HDD, and 8GB DDR4 ram. Moving up from there, you get an i7, 16 GB of ram and the same driver. Then one up from there a...

Should I wait for the new Dell XPS 15?

It's going to be very close to school beginning again. Boards that support Skylake CPU's look like they will be out in August. http://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/skylake-motherboards-from-msi-biostar-asrock-said-to-be-coming-in-august/ Personally, I would wait for 10 to drop. Lots of new...

    No display on laptop

It sounds like you fried the GPU and/or motherboard. The strange colors on the monitor/external monitor are a dead giveaway. You could replace the motherboard, but it's not worth the cost/complexity for a low end laptop.

i cant find it in the windows any where

Open "My Computer" or "Computer" and check there. If the CD-ROM drive is not visible it means that your system isn't seeing it. Try reseating the cables connecting the CD-ROM drive to the computer. It could also indicate that the CD-ROM drive is bad.

BSoD registry error when computer is idle

It will take a while, I would run it over night... however, my bet is that it won't detect anything since the quicktest passed. I would also look for a new BIOS version, and firmware for your drive. Go to the Lenovo support site and find your computer based on make/model. There might be a...

BSoD registry error when computer is idle

Alright, what you do is open up device manager (Right click on Computer and go to Manage). Then select "Device Manager." Expand the section that says "disk drives" and check who manufactured your hard drive. The drive on my computer starts with "WD" meaning that it's a Western Digital hard...

BSoD registry error when computer is idle

Sounds like you might have a disk error. Run the built-in diagnostics to see if the drive passes (from BIOS I believe). Also run a disk check but I wouldn't check the auto-fix option. You could also perform a system restore to a point before you installed the Border Lands prequel and try...

how to fix CD-ROM or hard drive failing

It could be both. I don't know if Aspire3680's have built-in diagnostics tools. If they do, run them. If not, start Windows up and download the hard drive manufacturer's diagnostics tool and run it. If the drive passes, you can rule out the hard drive as the issue. For the CD-Rom drive, it...

    Can't get rid of adware!

As shinerthetech said, the first 6 are anti-malware applications and/or cleanup tools. It is also a good idea to disable anti-virus applications when using 3rd party cleanup tools (like the Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool). The problem that you run into with multiple anti-virus applications is...

Possible to reformat laptop that came pre-installed with Windows 8?

Windows 8 uses a special security measure called the EFI-BIOS. This should not cause you too many issues re-installing Windows 8/8.1.

This does not come with a warranty, you are responsible for any software issues caused by running any of these scans.) That being said, I work at an MSP and use these tools daily. 1) Download and run rkill: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill//dl/10/ 2) Download and run JRT (Junk...
