well, i have a work around for this problem finally. its stupid, but a small line in an autohotkey script mapped my 4 key to numpad 4, so at least i dont need to keep turning on numlock to use it anymore. i still dont know whats wrong with the main registry though...

so nobody knows of any other possible solutions?

for some unexplained reason, the 4 key on my laptop (msi ge72 2qc apache) just stopped registering whenever i try to enter in a 4 from it (the row above the qwerty keys). the shift+4 still enters $ and programs where i would say configure a hotkey still recognizes when the 4 is pressed at...
