    TV purchase help

it's all relative I suppose. There are plenty of people that own Philips products that last a long long time and provide whatever the user ultimately wants. If you look at a Philips and like what they offer there is nothing to say you shouldn't buy it. That being said, I would still take...

    TV purchase help

if soccer is your first priority then it would fall under live sports which would benefit (a little) from 120Hz. But I still wouldn't go with Philips. what is your actual budget? What is the minimum size screen you will consider? perhaps this...

    TV purchase help

the short answer is "it depends". What is your primary purpose? If you watch mostly bluray and Netflix 60Hz is fine. If you watch mostly live sports 120Hz might be marginally better. If you play games 60Hz is better mostly because whatever processing the tv does to make up the frames at...

    TV purchase help

The way you have them listed is pretty much the order they should be in. The Sony is the best overall. Sharp Aquos sets can be just as good but seem to have a higher than normal amount of failures/issues comparatively. I wouldn't purchase the Philips at all. Hope that helps.

Hook VCR and DVD to Stereo Receiver and CRT TV?

You can always get an RCA to Coax converter like this: http://www.amazon.com/Modulator-Switch-Audio-Output-Converter/dp/B00J41Y4YY/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1435699413&sr=8-6&keywords=coaxial+to+rca+adapter which would work nicely. I haven't personally used this particular device but similar...

Can I run a coax signal thru a HDMI cable?

there is no simple plug adapter or dongle that will convert analog coaxial signals to digital HDMI signals. You can get a box that converts one to the other but they are expensive and not worth the investment. I've never seen a TV that had a fixed HDMI cable in place could you provide more...

    40" 4k or 1080p???

at 40 inches, unless you are sitting right on top of the TV you won't see much of a difference between 1080p and 4k especially if you require corrective lenses. Also, 4k is limited to 30hz right now which for many gamers is a failure whereas 1080p with the correct hardware will be able to do...

    I can't see.

if you have an extra external USB keyboard around you might be able to reboot the laptop with it connected and use the external keyboard. Beyond that, however, it sounds like your best option at this point is to take the laptop into a service center. If you bought it new and now with only 7...

hdmi won't work in any port

You mentioned "no longer recognizing my computer" does that mean it worked before? If so what has changed since that time? New graphics card, new drivers, etc. Have you tried the HDMI cable you are using for something else? The cable could be bad? Is it a direct connection from computer to...

can i play a dvd to my tv and route the sound back through a home theater system?

if your TV has an audio out feature you could connect that to the stereo system input, however, most TVs don't have audio out. Most likely you will just need to run HDMI which includes sound to the receiver (if it can accept HDMI) and then use HDMI pass through to the TV. The sound will stay...

    I can't see.

most likely when you reset to factory settings you lost your setting for video out to the secondary monitor as that is not usually a default setting Somebody may have a better option, but I have had to do this kind of thing blind before and you just need to be able to navigate without looking...

    Sony 46"LED TV

model/specs would be helpful but generally with Sony the red light flashing 8 times indicates there is an internal video problem with the set. Try these steps and see if it fixes your issue: •Disconnect all devices from the TV. •Disconnect the TV from the network. •If using a wired connection...

my laptop connected to my tv with hdmi but no sound from 5.1

HDMI carries picture and sound so when you run an HDMI cable directly to the TV you that's what you get. If you want the sound to go to the receiver instead you will need to add an audio cable. You will probably have to use the headphone jack as an out and a 3.5mm to RCA audio setup to reach...
