I just realized that I never posted the solution. The motherboards built in sound chip was bad. Supermicro replaced the mother board and all is well.

I find it strange that after the computer wakes up the SPEAKER Tab is sometimes gone, and sometimes the computer wants to know what each speaker plug in will be used for and then will give me back the SPEAKER Tab!
