Oh, thank you. But still there's too much of the data on the hard drive to backup all of it. And the usb's capacity is only 32GB.

No, i've had it for a year or so. I have another identical and it's working perfectly. I also excluded the possibility of having a virus since I used it only in school and on my home computer (which is working fine).

The problem is that computer recognises the usb but can't open it. And I just need the files that are still on the drive and not those that were deleted.
