well is the thermal paste important? and is that the cause for this?

My Sony Vaio E-series shuts down automatically after few minutes of use. Normally windows loads and everything happens but at login page or a desktop screen it shuts down directly.. I tried going into bios mode of my system, there also it closes after few minutes. I have disassembled,cleaned...
