CPU is throttling, i would suggest cleaning your laptop thoroughly to remove and dust build up and checking again

Changed the dvd player to output 720p and it works like a charm now, thanks for the help

I had not tried that yet, I will do that as soon as I get home. I just thought it was weird that I could get sound and no display but it works just fine connected to the computer but it was blurry

Side note, I hooked my computer up to it via dvi and it displays my desktop so I'm guessing I got sent a bad box or something since I tried with two different dvi cables and they both work with the computer

So I've got the box and everything connected properly. I do have sound coming out of the speakers but no display. Any ideas?

alright, that sounds like a plan. i should be able to get it before christmas so i will come back with anymore questions i may have

so just to be sure, i should buy the box, a dvi to dvi cable to hook into the box output and the tv input, and the 3.5mm to rca into the box output and tv input

yes it does have dvi output, and the only connection on the dvd player itself is the female hdmi, so how would i use the optical audio?

You could use CCleaner, that program is pretty useful to me. It has a section for the registry errors as well and it's free

Sounds like the bulb has gone bad or is going bad if you can faintly see it.

Not sure how much you were wanting to spend but the last pair of earphones I had were canalphones from skull candy ($10 non mic) at walmart and I still use them daily, if you have your device all the way turned up they do leak some but I would be more worried about your ears than what people can...
