headphones are not plugged in, just highlighting that i can have sound through HDMI, headphone but not laptop speakers. it is my default device currently, just double checked no luck :(

the only option under "mixer" that i have is "speaker" which belongs to the laptop i'm assuming. there is no drop down menu. the computer is not plugged into the tv anymore the sound works from the headphones.. I hope this helps and thank you so much for taking the time to help me out!

it happened when we plugged the computer into an older philips tv via hdmi.. maybe that helps? did it corrupt my speakers somehow?
