I checked the mobo and the processor, and they both seem to be fine, It was never dropped so I'm unsure as to what the issue may be

I busted my laptop screen awhile ago and I recently tried to hook it up to an external monitor that works, its the one I use with my desktop. I hook it up and close the lid of the laptop on boot and it goes to the monitor and the monitor pulls the video but is not working, the top of the screen...
