    When this happens: the CPU heatsink may be clogged with dust. Or, the CPU fan may have stopped running. Remove the fan and check the heat sink for dirt, also verify the the CPU fan is turning.

    The voltage converter "will" work... but a step-up transformer is much better (120V to 220V). The voltage converter is not made for audio...and not for continuous usage. The amp itself may have a 120V tap inside, which can change the voltage over. The audio source does not matter. Any line...

    This is not a great method. Use the preamp output to the new power amp instead. There "are" speaker to line converters...but not that great. You can get one on e bay or amazon. Yes...you can do it...but the distortion is pretty high.

    Bad headphone cable. Bad headphone jack. Try different headphones first and see if that solves it. If the jack is bad- you gotta solder a new one in.

    Solved! Mackie PROFX12 preamp noise

    2 separate problems, one of which may be the low voltage DC power supplies. Would be advisable to go to Mackie service center...or qualified amp tech etc... These type techs are found at music stores.
