I use Sony Vegas with : Sony AVC/MC (mp4. m2ts. avc) settings and the encode mode is automatic (so i think that Sony Vegas actually uses the CPU for rendering not being able see my GPU because of the Maxwell technology). Basically the thing that you are suggesting is buying another video card...
