    You can order acer recovery media here: http://us-store.acer.com/erecovery/rcd/ Or you can get yourself a raw windows 7 OS. I Got my last copy of 7 off of ebay for about $60.

    Is the CD recovery media or just drivers? I know sometimes Dell will provide a Drivers and applications disk, so unfortunately that will not install an operating system.     To turn on wifi? On that specific gateway I believe it's the Fn + F3 keys pressed together.

    1920 x 1080 would be 2.07 Megapixils and the number is calculated by multiplying the number of horizontal pixels by the number of vertical pixels, Hope this helps!

    Do any of the capacitors on the Power board seem to be popped or raised? My guess would be the power supply board is now kaput. Still within warranty? you could always see if the manufacturer will cover it.

    Both are SATA connections and should have the same speeds.

    If all else fails, I would recommend a reset to factory settings. Pesky & persistant stuff like that can bite you in the butt by just removing it. Back up anything you want to keep to a media source and scan it with Anti Virus software before putting it back onto your PC.
