Need a Motherboard for core unlocking

Newegg has the phenom II 955 oem for $105; see if your old board supports it and figure the hassle and price difference of changing the board and gambling on the fourth core unlocking versus installing a new cpu. Your old heatsink should be fine with the phenom II is you don't overclock.

Need a Motherboard for core unlocking

Download the manual of the Gigabyte board and look for an acc setting. You can set it to auto or enable it. If the board won't post, you'll have to reset the bios using the cmos jumper or remove the board battery for one minute with the power supply unplugged. If the board won't post, it means...

Unlocking a Sempron 145 second core

Check the board bios for an ACC setting, and set it to enable or auto. If the board won't post, it means your second core is bad, and you'll have to reset the bios by removing the board battery for a minute with the power supply unplugged. My second core on a sempron 140 is bad; tried unlocking...

Why do I not have Core Unlocker?

I'll download the board manual and do some checking. In the second section of your bios (advanced), go to "cpu configuration" and press enter. It will be there if you have ACC. If you enable it and the machine goes blank when you reboot, it means your extra cores are bad and won't work...

Why do I not have Core Unlocker?

You do. It may be listed as ACC. I disable mine on a biostar board as I've already tried unlocking my sempron. My second core is bad.

Is Gigabyte core unlocker now disabled?

Did you write down the bios file number your old board was running with? Could be the new board has a newer bios file that has changed one or two settings so your 555 won't unlock. I would check the bios settings carefully; you may need to go back to an older bios file to get your cpu unlocked...

Which moobo is best with AMD Phenom II X2 560 Black Edition?

Go for number four, the gigabyte for $64.99. It has bulldozer am3+ support and the newer vga and dvi ports, and should also unlock cores. But remember not all amd cpus will run with the cores unlocked; some are disabled for being defective.

Solved! How to unlock a locked bios??????

Some have a setting that has to be disabled. Some boards have a green jumper you can move with the system off to reset it, then return to it's run position. Try finding a bios setting first.

Probably dumb question about unlocking sempron 140 core

Yes. You must use the cpu on a board with the acc or core unlocker feature. Changing the setting does not permanently alter the cpu internally. My sempron 140 won't post with the second core unlocked, so I know the core is bad and should remain disabled.

    Sempron 145 unlock?

For most boards, you simply have to set the clock calibration setting in the bios to "auto".

    Increase fan speed

You'll have to check the bios under "hardware monitor" or similar title. Smartfan is a common program in the hardware monitor section. You can disable it if you want the fan to run at full speed all the time. I use the "quiet" setting in my bios, but adjustments vary with each motherboard...

Do you need to unlock the i7?

No. Intel cpus won't allow it. Amd does it as an incentive for gamers, but sometimes it doesn't work.

My proplem with phenom X2 550

Every cpu is different. Some won't post when you try to unlock the cores due to instability. The cores are usually disabled for a reason.

    M2n68-la uk bios update

You don't want to change the bios to a non hp. It will cause problems with your windows installation next time you want to change anything. I don't recommend it unless you have a spare operating system. Overclocking is highly overated. Many other oem boards are void of bios adjustments for...

    AMD Phenom II X3 720 4 Core?

Asrock makes a board that unlocks cores, but there's no guarantee that the 4th core will function properly. It may also affect overclocking. Look for a 750 or 710 southbridge chipset and read some newegg reviews.
