    Hi offroadguy56 and shmoochie. Thanks for your help. I'll have a new charger tomorrow, and will give it a go and see what happens. If the battery doesn't charge, then it's the battery also. Going for the easy fix first, then will take on the battery if needed. Amazon has them. Thanks again...

    Will downloading the driver update make the laptop start up and shut down on battery power, without being plugged in? The screen is ok, just that it won't start up or shut down on battery power. Thanks.

    Solved! Asus laptop only works when plugged in.

    I have a 3 year old Asus laptop. It just recently stopped working on the battery, and will only work when plugged in. Could it be the daughter board and/or the battery? Are they easy to fix?
