MY DELL XPS 1640 has HDMI and DISPLAY PORT. All 3 displays can show different image or part of image. Graphic card is ATI. I strongly believe exactly same can be achieved with N500 using HDMI and it's mini display port. I don't think that eyefinity is only one doing multiple monitors / views...

I just bought ASUS N550 5 days ago in a UK ebay. I saw them in Germany and in BeNeLux and US and UK stores. I don't think it's end of life. UK and US models are better than others due to IPS panel and touchscreen.

I found the answer on disasembling LID, so sharing it with the rest of the community. ASUS N550 is similar to the new ASUS series notebooks, all glue gorilla glass to the LID. There is tutorial on ASUS Zen using fan. http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Asus+Zenbook+UX32VD+Teardown/10120/3

I really need some manual to open N550 lid. Removing whole lid from notebook isn't problem, but I don't see any screws on the lid itself... your article assumes older models. Maybe someone else has seen links.
