Samsung Launches 4K, 28-inch Monitor for Under $700

Well it looks like I might just be skipping over 1440p. I've been waiting for prices on them to drop to the sub-400 range for years. Most are still in the 500+ range. Still so annoying to me that it's cheaper to buy an entire tablet (say Nexus 10) to get a decent resolution than it is to buy...

Android, iPhone Account for 92% of Q4 Smartphone Shipments

robochumpAndroid is not 100% free. Believe it or not Microsoft gets some licensing fees from Android OS because of proprietary software within it. False, MicroSoft does extort fees from some Android manufacturers. Others do not pay anything, and MS has not attempted to extort Google yet. They...

Steam Beta for Ubuntu May Arrive in October

SteveymooAlright, time for thousands of l33t windows gamers to try and install Ubuntu, figure out they can't get video drivers working correctly, and limp back home to the comfort of windows.Max respect to Valve though, I will be giving this a go when it's released.. Hi my names Steveymoo and...

Man Suing Google to Undo Google Trademark

tomrippity02How so? I don't agree with this lawsuit, but I don't see how those two terms are part of the English vernacular when you aren't really referring to those specific pieces of technology. The phrase "google it" has essentially replaces the word "search" in our language. Even though...

Zynga Spent $1.2M Protecting CEO from Stripper Stalker

velocityg4He could get that stalker permanently removed for a lot less than $1.2 million. Apparently that's taboo, but that's what I was thinking. I'd imagine threats like this have "disappeared" for less than 1.2 million before. And that may sound callous. On the other hand, if a stalker...

The Best Time to Get a Deal on iPad 3? 6 Months From Now

The best deal regarding an iPad 3? Not buying an iPad3. Hey I'm 600 bucks richer already.

Sony May Be Eying Smartphones, Tablets with Vita OS

I'm with @alldan. Between all the current market players, the mobile market feels saturated at least from an OS standpoint. Android, iOS, WP7 ... Symbian and RIM which are diminishing... and of course WebOS which is basically defunct already. Great time to try and enter the market. What's...

63% of Homes Spend More on Tech Bills than Utilities

I pay $35 for 7mb DSL, and $30 for a cellphone. My electricity is ~$120 a month, and water/sewer is $35. $65 vs $155, Guess I'm in the 37%. I constantly see people with iPhones/Androids paying $110 a month for it and living a Ramen noodle livestyle. It just doesn't make sense to me.

The Best of CES: Samsung WF457 Washer and Dryer

joebob2000 Us Americans have no use for them since we don't have anything else to fill the 1000 sq ft of wasted space in our basement anyhow, but hey. What ignorance. How about we don't like to wait to start another load. I can have one washing and one drying at the same time. Not to mention...

Amazon: We're Selling Over 1 Million Kindles a Week!

del35The fact that people are so clueless as to buy a Kindle Fire versus just any other tablet tells you right away the dire state of the masses as far as making intelligent choices. Yes the price is good, but any tablet you choose, including the crappy iPad 2 can allow you to read ebooks...

Is XXXXX Terribly Undervalued? A Fund Manager Thinks So. Replace XXXXX with any company around, and the title probably still holds. Fund Managers are ubiquitous and most struggle to match index returns.

42-inch LED HDTVs to Drop Below $400 Mark

Is the weak demand really due to the economy, or the fact that everybody and their brother already has a flat panel TV? Of course panels fail and some people wait to upgrade / can't afford it. But I wonder when do we shift the blame from the economy to market saturation. Oh well I suppose it's...
