Sounds like it is the audio input. You could either get an audio card or get a new motherboard? Another question, are you using the input audio on your case or from your motherboard?

I don't know why people say to avoid SteelSeries... I've had two headphones from them (v2 and Siberia 650) and I've loved both. I was going to suggest SteelSeries.
