yes everything is set to 5. surround. it seems like vlc media player uses all speakers, whether it are movies or songs. thanks for your answers!

i have got the black, orange and green cable going direct from my card to my subwoofer.( sorry i don't know the names of the cables...) when i test it with the software i can hear the other speakers. also when i play a show like walking dead i can hear audio form all the speakers. but still...
