    Ok have you checked the windows energy options? leave them on performance if you havent done it already, check nvidia preferences and put it on performance or maximun performance (this would be relevant for games mostly). lets see if that helps...

    there could be a lot of things related to the issue you describe, first of all is the laptop connected to the Ac line or is just running on battery when the issue occurs? is the laptop really hot? have you checked cpu and memmory usage on windows taskbar?
