Ended up talking to my flatmate after work today and he said that if the battery is still connected when you connect the screen, and you put it in on to much of an angle initially it can short out and potentially wreck the cable/screen/board. Whats your take on this?

The cable is the exact same yes. As for the screen, I ordered the exact same one (AU Optronics B116XTB01.0 11.6") but the model number on the screen i received was NT116WHM-N10. Thought they might have messed up so i gave the place a message through their website and they said its the right one...
