There's an input selector and volume control on the OPPO remotes (for 93, 103 and 105 anyway), but maybe not enough gain to act as a preamp?

Thanks for you reply. I just looked online at the 105 manual and I see the HDMI input right next to the LAN connection and there's also an optical input connection that isn't on my 93 or 103. So I'm looking for a 105 now or maybe a new 205?

I found an adapter that goes in the other direction, this is from USB to optical (https://shop.turtlebeach.com/us/audio-advantage-micro-ii). It uses drivers to work. So I'd guess its possible to build what I'm looking for, but apparently not much of a market for it.
