yup and the solution worked. Actually, I chose to remove those from the "open pages" settings. but I changed my start-up to the new-tab page, to help cope with starting up chrome on this slower than molasses computer. LOL

And now the start-up option shows up. Thanks. o.o That's weird. Anyway I had already checked search engines and funny enough, AVG/Yahoo weren't there. Hopefully it saves the changes and doesn't do it again the next time I sign into google on a different computer.
