First of all, is the pc still functional? If we can get into windows this is no problem at all! Otherwise, we will need the windows installation cd.

Have you considered the chromebook pixel? Also I don't know if you would consider it, but I have a macbook pro and you could get a retina for 1600 which would be really good for that purpose.

Umm.... I would help, but you aren't really giving us much information. What device is it? Have you tried a different cable? These things are both important information that really keep us from helping you until we have it.
