Noticed this to be my solution...good work. "Same problem with my Lenovo P500. Accidentally found the fix with a normal boot, but power adapter UNPLUGGED, while holding shift-F12 down during boot." with my situation i just held the Fn+F12 instead. which reminded me how I got here to begin...
