    Thanks. But my display allows only 60 hertz, and is the same for both modes. Also, I realize I was not clear in my posting, and have revised it now. It's not just the display going blank but the system itself shuts down.

    This is a 2015 model of Samsung notebook 9 (purchased new 2016 Nov). Problem occurs only in battery mode not when connected. Screen will show static, go black, and then computer shuts down. Comes back on when I reboot, and will function fine for a while until problem repeats.
